Software/System Development Life Cycle is a process that applied in project management that describes in detail, the phases or stages that entail an efficient and effective software or information system. This is executed in an orderly manner starting with a feasibility study through to maintenance of the end product.

There are various models and methodologies that fall under the software/system development life cycle. These models and methodologies include the waterfall model, V-shaped model, spiral model, iterative and incremental model, big bang model and extreme programming (agile model). In this case, we will take the agile model into consideration with regard to data management and analytics (Roebuck, 2012).
